This comprehensive guide has options for those ladies who would love to create a spa experience at home, and for those who want to know the most minimal beauty prep for your special day!
FACIAL
You can splurge on a spa facial, or d-i-y,
3-5 days before your wedding
Recommended (for spa facial): lactic or glycolic acid peel, or another exfoliating facial the esthetician would recommend for your skin type
Why splurge on a spa facial? They will do any extractions for you, minimizing any chances of stubborn breakouts on your special day.
STEP 1 : FACE STEAM
Items Needed: Bath Towel, Kettle, Large Bowl, Herbs or Essential Oil (Optional)
-Boil Water
-Pour in Bowl
-Sitting down, Place your face over the bowl
-Place the towel over your head so it also covers the bowl for at least 5 minutes
STEP 2 : WASH FACE
-Use your regular cleanser
-massage in small circular motion for 60-90 seconds
-rinse with room temp. water
STEP 3 : SCRUB
-Use nickel size amount
-massage whole face and neck, gently, in small circular motion for 60 seconds
-Rinse with room temp. water
STEP 4 : MASK
-Apply face mask generously, avoiding eye area
-Follow instructions on face mask bottle or box for how long to leave it on
-Place head over steam bowl, covered with towel, -or- take a steamy shower with the mask on
-rinse
-pat face dry
-Apply moisturizer and eye cream (for oily skin, apply a toner with a cotton round)
STEP 5 : HAIR & LIPS
-Wet a wash cloth with warm water to scrub lips
-Apply lip balm or chapstick before bed
-Shampoo and condition your hair the day before your wedding
-To condition properly, ring out hair after shampoo, apply conditioner to the ends of your hair and leave on for a few minutes (unless you have extremely oily hair, in which case shampoo the day of and skip conditioner)
SPECIAL NOTES:
If you wear makeup the night before, use a really good eye makeup remover to thoroughly remove mascara. You don't want owl eyes!
Facials and the like not your thing? That's okay!
Here is your basic prep list:
-Wash face at night and morning of the wedding, with a washcloth if you don't have or use a scrub
-rinse, then use the washcloth to scrub your lips
-Moisturize your skin (and lips too! With a lip balm)
-Wash and condition your hair the night before
